Ridge 2 Reef is happy to support the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) at UCI. Congratulations to this dedicated team of students for winning the well-deserved award for outstanding educational outreach program. SACNAS as an organization is “dedicated to fostering the success of Chicano/Hispanic and Native Americans scientists, from college students to professionals, in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions in of leadership in STEM,” (sacnas.org). On their Facebook page, their mission statement declares their aim to emulate those goals along with establishing a sense of community, providing access to professional development, and eventually creating opportunities for K-12 outreach.
